In January 2023 the Clean Aviation project HyPoTraDe was launched with a Kick-off meeting held at the facilities of the project leader Pipistrel in Slovenia.
With 6 partners from 4 EU countries, HyPoTraDe aims to provide a fast track solution for hydrogen use in small and regional aircraft. The goal is to characterize the operating behaviour and failure mitigation of a fuel cell battery hybrid electric powertrain.
For this, a 500 kW powertrain will be assembled and ground tested, emulating the relevant ambient conditions in flight. The demonstrator will be accompanied by a digital twin, that allows for easy testing and studying the further potential of the architecture.
